In my Language arts class we did a stock game. We used index cards to record how much we either gain or lose. To make the game work the way it did I used formulas. The formulas made it work so that when I typed in how much I gained or lost I can have the total. My Language arts class also read a book called The Westing Game. In The Westing Game there was also a stocks game. I thought the stocks project was really cool even though it was confusing for me at first.

TED Like Talk
Recently I did a TED like talk on life guarding. Everyone in my Language Arts class shared something that they were passionate about and interested in. I used different sites and explored articles and text to create my presentation. Some things that I included in my TED like talk is things that life guarding can help with, different swimming strokes, how to save people from drowning and my experience with swimming. I talked about how swimming is also an important life skill. I discussed that because a lot of people have jobs or want to have jobs that require life guarding or swimming skills. One skill is CPR so that even if you’re just a parent and there aren’t any lifeguards around so that someone can help. Have you ever considered life guarding or been one? Well life guarding seems pretty cool to me. Maybe I’ll be one someday.
Cuento, Book making, My Ideal World and The Last Cuentista
In Language arts class, I made a book of my cuento and my ideal world. My class made books with our own art. I used paint, a leaf, paper and a paint roller. Before hand I wrote my stories to put in my book. Then I made the cover of my book by cutting out letters to form my title. After that I taped my stories in and put them where I wanted them to go. I also used painted cardboard to make the pages and spine of the book and I even was lucky enough to have an amazing artist teach me. When I made the leaf art there were many different ways to make a print of it. One way was to put paper down and then lay the leaf on the paper and after that I would paint over the leaf to make contrast between the paint and the leaf.
I first heard this story from my mom when my family traveled to Switzerland. I don’t remember much because I was three years old but my dad had to give a speech there so my family had to get to the location of where my dad had to be. To do that my family took a bus and when the bus arrived at the center my dad got off but my my sisters seat belt was jammed and my mom, my sister and I couldn’t exit the bus. This story is important to my mom because it was a bad situation but it turned out to be a great vacation. It’s also important to her because it reminded my mom of our great loving family. This story makes me feel thankful for just spending time with family. What makes the story so special is that it was my family’s first time overseas together. This was such a scary situation because my dad didn’t realize that we were still on the bus and of course we weren’t going to leave my older sister behind. So, if you ever get stuck anywhere and you can’t get out just attract attention to yourself or scream if you need to. Anyway, the rest of the trip was really fun and was full of fun adventures.
Welcome to Planet Island. My ideal world is like Earth. You can get to it by jumping into a pool off the diving board and going 7 feet into the pool. Any pool goes to it. My ideal world is basically regular life but better. This planet is right next to Earth. When you get to Planet Island you’ll see the main beach. The main beach has the ocean, sand, seashells and ocean animals. Planet Island has clean beaches and islands. Planet Island also has air, nature, water, beach houses, food, rocks, plants and more. Planet Island is one big island with sand, beaches, and beach houses. Planet Island has a light purple sky and when it’s night time it’s dark purple. It also has white sand and warm sand.
In my Language Arts class, we read a book called The Last Cuentista. It took us approximately a month to read. My favorite part about the book was that there was music in the book. And that was my favorite part because in the other books that I would usually read there wasn’t any form of music. Another thing is that there were many parts of the story of The Last Cuentista. Overall, I thought the story was very interesting and cool.
